About Berks Career & Technology Center

BCTC offers students a career-focused education that blends academics with hands-on experience. With Career Clusters spanning industries like healthcare, manufacturing, IT, and transportation, students develop skills, earn certifications, and prepare for life after graduation—whether that means entering the workforce or continuing their education.

Our Campuses

With two campuses in Berks County, BCTC Education Foundation supports BCTC in offering students easy access to modern equipment, experienced instructors, and industry-standard facilities. Each campus provides a supportive environment where students can explore their interests, build their skills, and pursue their passions.

Programs and Industries We Support

BCTC Education Foundation supports 35 career programs in multiple fields (or clusters) to prepare students for successful careers in local industries. Our programs are developed in collaboration with business partners, ensuring students’ educations focus on relevant, in-demand skills. Our highest priority clusters include:

  • Healthcare – Training for careers in nursing, medical assisting, and more.
  • Transportation – Hands-on experience in fleet management, vehicle repair, and diagnostics.
  • Construction and Manufacturing – Programs in carpentry, welding, and advanced manufacturing.

BCTC’s Career Clusters

From welding to web development, students at BCTC can choose from 35 career programs that connect directly to the workforce. BCTC offers the training—we help students show up ready.

Business & Information Technology

From office administration to cybersecurity, students in this cluster build a strong foundation in modern business operations and digital infrastructure. Programs focus on areas like networking, programming, accounting, and entrepreneurship, helping students develop the skills needed to lead, manage, and adapt in professional environments.

Communications

The Communications cluster blends creativity with technical skill. Students explore visual storytelling, digital content creation, and commercial design through programs like Advertising Art & Design and Video & Media Production. With experience in industry-standard software and techniques, graduates are ready to pursue careers in media, marketing, and visual communication.

Construction

Whether it’s a residential build or a major infrastructure project, skilled construction professionals are always in demand. Students in this cluster get hands-on training in carpentry, HVAC, heavy equipment operation, and more. These programs, including various certifications, give students the tools to step into essential trade careers that keep our communities growing.

Engineering & Manufacturing Technology

Students gain hands-on experience with tools, machinery, and systems used in advanced manufacturing, automation, and product design. Programs such as Robotics & Automation Technology, Precision Machining, and Welding prepare students for high-paying, high-demand roles in the region’s industrial and technical sectors.

Healthcare

This cluster prepares students to make a difference in one of today’s fastest-growing fields. Programs include Health Occupations, Sports Medicine, and Dental Occupations, all building critical knowledge in patient care, medical ethics, and clinical procedures. Graduates are prepared for immediate entry-level roles or further education in nursing, therapy, and other health sciences.

Services

The Services cluster offers diverse pathways in cosmetology, culinary arts, early childhood education, and protective services. Students gain hands-on experience and certifications in fields focused on helping others, creating memorable experiences, and maintaining public safety.

Transportation

From the shop floor to the job site, this cluster gets students under the hood and behind the wheel of opportunity. Programs like Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, and Heavy Equipment Technology provide a strong foundation in diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance across a range of vehicle and equipment systems.
